JUNIOR PRACTICE OUTLINE

1 HOUR

KEEP ALL PRACTICES MOVING RAPIDLY. DON'T LET ANY PLAYER STAND IDLE,  SO BE SURE ACTION IS GOING ON CONSTANTLY DURING THE ENTIRE 1 HOUR.

IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A FEW PLAYERS, NEVER LEAVE OTHERS IDLE. MAKE SURE THEY ARE SHOOTING, DRIBBLING, PASSING, OR WORKING ON SOME DEVELOPMENTAL SKILL.

PICK A DIFFERENT DRILL FROM THE ONES LISTED UNDER "JUNIOR DRILLS" OR DEVISE YOUR OWN, FOR EACH TOPIC BELOW.

1. Stretching - Try to get in on sidelines before practice.

2. Ball Handling - (5 minutes) Every player must have a ball!

3. Dribble Skills/Layups (DEVELOPMENT SKILL) - (5 minutes)

4. Shooting (DEVELOPMENT SKILL) - (10 minutes)

5. Foul Shooting (DEVELOPMENT SKILL) - (5 minutes) Use as many baskets as possible. Try to make players shoot when they are winded.

6. Pivot and Jump Stop (DEVELOPMENT SKILL) - (5 minutes)

7. Passing (DEVELOPMENT SKILL)- (5 minutes)

8. Rebounding/Boxing Out Drill (DEVELOPMENT SKILL)- (5 minutes)

9. Man to Man Defense (DEVELOPMENT SKILL) - (10 minutes)

10. Half Court Offense/Scrimmage - (10 minutes)
